| Description |
English: The Normal Overflow down the Spillway, Weston Turville Reservoir. This fixed sized slot in the spillway 1259441 allows water to flow out freely under low flow conditions, up to a fixed maximum. If the water flow into the reservoir exceeds this rate (for instance after very heavy rain) the water back up in the reservoir, minimising the danger of flooding downstream. If the water continues to arrive faster than it exits eventually the water will top the rim of the spillway - preventing the water level from rising to a point where it might threaten the integrity of the earth dam.
