| Description |
English: The Old Hedon Haven. This is the view looking eastwards just south of the farm at Hedon, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The Haven was a navigable waterway from the River Humber some two miles to the west of here, making a Hedon a port long before Hull was. The Haven eventually silted up and was abandoned for shipping and later filled in completely in the late 1970s. There are plans to open it one day at a cost of about £17m+, but there would be many obstacles (politically, physically and financially) to overcome before this could ever happen. |
