Summary

edit
Description The Oregonian Publishing Company's former Press and Distribution Plant (in Portland, Oregon) viewed from the northeast, across SW 16th & Yamhill, in 2019 – four years after it was sold and vacated. An eastbound MAX Light Rail train is passing. Built in 1973–74, the structure fills an entire city block, bounded by 16th and 17th Avenues and Taylor and Yamhill Streets, and until 2015 it housed the printing presses that originally printed both The Oregonian and The Oregon Journal (until the latter's discontinuation in 1982). Another building in the complex, built in 1989 or 1990 on Yamhill Street between 17th and 18th, was used as a warehouse for housing rolls of newsprint. It was demolished in late 2018, and the apartment tower visible under construction in the background of this photo is its replacement on that site.
