This painting is part of a series of 13, created between June 17 and July 27, 1890. They are all of same (for the artist unusual) format. One is the portrait of Marguerite Gachet F_772 in upright format, the others are landscapes in landscape format. In his letters 644 and 645, v.Gogh refers to the relation between the portrait and especially this painting. -a424
