Summary
editDescriptionThe Red Jacket Pill entering the River Neath - geograph.org.uk - 202660.jpg |
English: The Red Jacket Pill entering the River Neath. The Red Jacket Pill was a short canal (1 mile and 7 furlongs) built in 1817-1818 without an Act of Parliament by William Kirkhouse. The canal allowed copper ore to be transported directly from the River Neath at Briton Ferry to the 'Briton Ferry Copper Works' and the 'Red Jacket Copper Works' on the western side of the river. The canal fell into disuse by 1922. The pipe across the canal is a water main. |
