Description
English: Constructed at the end of the 1st century B.C. with the financial support of Julius Caesar (100-44 B.C.) and Augustus (27 B.C. – 14 A.D.), it was further embellished by Hadrian (A.D. 117-138). After the barbarian invasion of A.D. 267, it replaced the Ancient Agora as the administrative and commercial centre of the city. Source: odysseus.culture.gr
