Description
English: This Buddha statue at Tantirimale represents the Samadhi attitude of Buddha” seated under a Makara Torana. The robe clinging to the body covering one shoulder is described as “ekansa parupana”. There is evidence of an image house that had been there enclosing the Buddha statue. The two figures fanning the Buddha, found on the upper ends of the Makara Torana represents deities. (8-9 centuries AD)
