Summary
editDescriptionThe Sandbanks Chain Ferry - geograph.org.uk - 118155.jpg |
English: The Sandbanks Chain Ferry. This much used ferry crosses the busy waterway entrance into Poole Harbour and connects the Sandbanks peninsula to the Isle of Purbeck. Despite its name, the Isle of Purbeck is not an island but is in fact also mainland, where the road leads on towards Studland, Swanage, Corfe Castle and beyond. The ferry is popular and well used because it runs every 20 minutes and the 5 minute journey saves a road journey of approx. 35 miles around Poole Harbour and onward through Wareham. |
