English: The Schooner Yacht 'Anaconda' 101 Tons built by Mr Joseph White entering Plymouth Sound... winning the Royal Western Yacht Club Cup, August 26th 1845 It is inscribed: "The Schooner Yacht 'Anaconda' /101 Tons built by Mr Joseph White entering Plymouth Sound. / To Sir Charles Henry Ibbetson Bart / This Print of his Schooner Yacht 'Anaconda' winning the Royal Western Yacht Club Cup, August 26th 1845 / is dedicated by his very obedient Servant, Edmund Fry." Beneath the picture, the Breakwater Lighthouse and (centre right) the yacht 'Peri' are indicated. Beneath the caption indicating the lighthouse, is the inscription: 'Second Class Cutter Yacht Match in the distance - the Heroine leading." In the late 1850s, 'Anaconda' was owned by Captain Phillimore, R.N. and Mr Powys of the R.Y.S. |
