The Sea Hag Anne Bonny Pirate Mermaid Merfolk Jamaica Caribbean Florida Myth Legend pirate

Summary

edit
Description
English: The most fearsome of all sea hags, the pirate mermaid Anne Bonny first appeared in the winter of 1733, the same year her human form was tossed into the sea upon her conviction for piracy. They say that Anne made a deal with The Sailor’s Devil, that if she allowed him to marry her unborn daughter, he’d grant her eternal life beneath the sea. Ever since, all through the Caribbean and up the Florida coast, Bonny has been luring curious sailors to rocky shallows where their boats are crushed and sunk. She appears as a pirate mermaid in ephemera related to the Palma Ceia neighborhood in Tampa, Florida, along with Qualenya, the subject of another mermaid legend.
