Description |
English: The Seattle Theatre, since renamed the Paramount Theater, opened on March 1, 1928. The opulent theater, inside a nine-story building at the corner of Pine Street and Ninth Avenue, was built as a silent movie and vaudeville house by a Seattle businessman backed by investors from the East Coast. "The Seattle Theatre Blues" is dedicated to the new theater, still flourishing in downtown Seattle in 2018. Harry Colwell wrote the music and lyrics. The sheet music was distributed by Capitol Music Co. of Seattle. The cover design includes a drawing of the theater and a small photograph of the composer. Ads for additional pieces, all published by Sherman Clay & Co., can be found inside the front cover and on the outside of the back cover. Caption information source: HistoryLink essay 3973.
