Description
English: The Sint-Nicolaas Church is located on the east side of the Grand Place of Sint-Niklaas, Belgium and has been protected since 1971. The interior is predominantly baroque (including the beautiful pulpit and the imposing organ) and neo-Gothic. The church has 7 altars. In addition, there is a baptistery and a burial chapel. On the western side, a series of neo-Gothic stained glass windows have been preserved. In the church hangs The Descent from the Cross by Pieter Thys.
Nederlands: De Sint-Nicolaaskerk is gelegen aan de oostzijde van de Grote Markt van Sint-Niklaas, België en is beschermd sinds 1971. Het interieur is overwegend barok (o.a. de schitterende preekstoel en het imposante orgel) en neogotisch. De kerk heeft 7 altaren. Daarnaast is er een doopkapel en een grafkapel. Aan de westerzijde zijn nog een reeks neogotische glasramen bewaard gebleven. In de kerk hangt De Kruisafneming van Pieter Thys.
