Description The Soldier's Monument in the Oregon Commercial Historic District in Oregon, IL (1916). The statue was sculpted by Lorado Taft and it sits upon a monument designed by Pond & Pond. The two soldiers, carved from Tate County, Georgia marble, represent an infantryman looking toward home, and a cavalryman looking to battle.
