Description
English: Teaser advertisement for the American drama film The Spreading Evil (1918), on page 47 of the November 22, 1918 Variety. The film warned of American servicemen contacting syphilis from European woman during World War I. A review of the film in the same issue of Variety did not mention the word syphilis or venereal disease, but called the film's subject a "blood disease."
