Description A temple existed on this site back to Tarquinius Superbus with the current remains being those from a rebuild around 283 A.D. Here was the focal point of one of the most important and popular Roman religious festivals, the Saturnalia, which occurred around December 25 and was a celebration relating to agriculture and the return of life.
