| Description |
English: The Tomb of the Eagles This neolithic burial chamber was found by a farmer when the stones were uncovered following a storm. His family still owns the land and access is via a visitor centre at South Liddel. The 5,000 year old cairn gets its name from the talons of sea eagles that were found with the human remains - they may have been hunting trophies but if so it is not known what methods were used to hunt such fearsome creatures. It is possible to enter the chamber using a narrow entrance close to where the visitors are standing. |
