Page 14 article describes the Nippon Yusen Kaisha company and it's role in Seattle's early development. Edith E. Gattis was, among other things, the founder of the Daughters of the Nile, one of the two women's auxiliaries of the Shriners.[1] She also served as a Seattle Civil Service Commissioner from August 7, 1929 to June 7, 1932, serving a chair of the commission from 1932 onward. [2] |
