Description

Hohensalzburg Castle overlooks the city of Salzburg. Roughly 0.15 miles (250 m) long and 0.10 miles (150 m) wide, it is one of the largest - and best preserved - medieval castles in Europe. Originally built as a wooden fortress in 1077, it was rebuilt and expanded many times in subsequent centuries. Visit The World Factbook for more information about Austria.
