Description
Svenska: Apis mellifera. English: It was said in the thirties that the honeybee would not be able to create enough lifting force due to its relatively small wings to be able to fly - a paradox?! In reality, the bees flight is characterized by an oscillating wing, more reminiscent of a helicopter blade, than an aircraft wing. In addition, the wing's shape and movement pattern create an air vortex just above the wing and it gives rise to increased lifting force. Source: Wikipedia.
