English: The church of St John the Baptist - rood screen. St John's church > 873336 - 873366 has a C15 tower with a frieze depicting shields and chalices > 873338. On the north side two round splayed Saxon windows > 873342 can be seen under the eaves of the thatched roof. The church was greatly restored in the 19th century; of the rood screen > 873355 only traces of the original woodwork remain; the west gallery dates from the 17th century and the stained glass windows are Victorian and later. The font > 873371 is Purbeck marble and dates from the 13th century. |
