Description
English: The first of a group of three cairns A group of three cairns located in this area is described in the WoSAS database: http://www.wosas.net/wosas_site.php?id=14154 (the comment made there about the group's being 200 metres from the road appears to be an error; however, I did eventually track them down, and the cairns otherwise match the report in all respects). The following positions, obtained by GPS, are accurate to within a few metres:

● Cairn I is at NS 36879 78754, and is shown here (with cairn III visible behind it on the right). See https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1370921 for another view. It is about 70cm high, and a few stones protrude through its grassy surface.

● Cairn II is at NS 36907 78741. See https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1586494 for the main description and photo, and https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1370926 for another view.

● Cairn III is at NS 36927 78769, and is shown at https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1586505

Another single cairn – https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1369760 – is located a short distance to the west, and a possible hut circle – https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1379995 – is also located nearby. The book "Archaeology Around Glasgow", by Susan Hothersall, in its discussion of the nearby hill-fort – https://www.geograph.org.uk/snippet.php?id=44 – on Carman Hill, mentions these cairns and the hut circle, noting that "these too have remained untouched by archaeologists; they may be evidence of agriculture and settlement of an earlier period".
