Summary

Description The first sprinkling of bats begins to fly out. You can hardly make them out, they must be barely half a dozen of them. Basically, what is happening here is this: there are millions of bats in that cave there. And they need to feed. So as most animals are nocturnal, all the millions of bats in there leave their cave at sundown to feed. After doing so all night, they will return to this cave, equally dramatically, at dawn. So many bats would probably mean snakes about in the cave as well, but as they would be deep inside the cave, we didn't spot any. (Battambang, Cambodia, Apr. 2014)
