Summary edit
DescriptionThe grand portico of Plas Glynllifon - geograph.org.uk - 304711.jpg |
English: The grand portico of Plas Glynllifon The Glynllifon estate will always be linked with the notorious Maria Stella (1773-1843), the daughter of an Italian policeman, who at the age of 13 married the middle aged first Lord Newborough in 1786. She bore him two sons. After her husbands' death she moved to Paris where she married a Russian Count. She then laid claim to the throne of France on the grounds that her true father was Louis Philippe, the Duke of Orleans. The present mansion was built by Maria's second son, the 3rd Lord Newborough - Spencer Bulkeley Wynn (1803-88).
