Tins representation of the state of the finally impenitent,appearing to be levelled at the pharisees, they immediately con-certed with the llerodians and Sadducees, on the most propermethod of putting Jesus to death. It is sufficiently evident,that their hatred was now carried to the highest pitch, becausethe most violent enmity which had so long subsisted between thetwo sects, was, on this occasion, suspended, and they joinedtogether, to execute * their cruel determination on the Son ofGod. They, however, thought it most eligible to act very cau-tiously, and endeavor, if possible, to catch some hasty ex-pression from him that they might render him odious to thepeople, and procure something against him that might serve MARRIAGE SUPPER.
