English: The Jesuit missionary (Black Robe) Father Pierre-Jean De Smet’s words about the massacre of the ”entire” Piegan Blackfoot band the Small Robes (termed Little Robes here) around October 9, 1845. De Smet learned more about the battle at Judith Gap, Montana, later. Then he wrote more in accordance with the facts, that the band had lost half of its members due to the many people killed and more than 100 women and children carried off.
