Description
English: The mouth of the Peffer Burn at low tide. Ships used to sail up the Peffer to Aberlady which was the sea port for Haddington the County town of East Lothian. The mouth of the Peffer has mostly silted up with sand nowadays and the large expanse of sandbanks provides a haven for feeding bird especially geese which overwinter in the area. Aberlady Bay is now a nature reserve especially for birds.
