Description
English: The old mill at Welsh Hook A very pretty building with gardens reaching to the river. 'Welsh' Hook makes the distinction from the Hook which lies on the river Cleddau near Llangwm and is south of the dividing Landsker line in the 'Englishry'. Welsh Hook is north of this line in the 'Welshry'.

The Landsker line is not a tangible one, but follows the line between castles from Roch in the west to Laugharne in the east. It was a barrier between the indiginous Cymry/Welsh and the Saesneg/English invaders.

Incidentally the name Cymry in native Welsh translates as 'brother/ comrade' and Saesneg as 'foreigner'. Welsh is actually an English word deriving from 'Wealas' meaning 'foreigner'!
