Summary

edit
Description Serious aggression is uncommon among proboscis monkeys but minor aggression does commonly occur. Males of one-male groups can stay in their groups for six to eight years. Replacements in the resident males appear to occur without serious aggression. This particular mail had tried to challenge the alpha male who drove him off rather aggressively. He is seen here taking refuge under the boardwalk which we are standing on. I kept what I thought was a safe distance, and shot this picture of him, while I was leaning over the railing. He appeared to take no notice of me. (Sandakan, Sabah, East Malaysia, Nov.2013)
