To the glory of God and in loving memory of Thomas Heald GUEST, Major of the XIII York and Lancaster Regiment who fell in Picardy, gallantly leading his men in battle on July 1st 1916 at the age of 41 years. The only son of Thomas Guest, Esq, J.P., and nephew of the late Revd, Arthur Guest, vicar of this parish. The Chancel was repaired and this tablet placed here by his father, his devoted wife and his sister AD 1919 He is commemorated on a brass tablet inside St Oswald the parish church of Lower Peover, Cheshire, Bloxham School, Roll of Honour, and also on the Thiepval memorial, Somme, France.
