Description
English: Mr. Thomas M. Dolin and his wife Alma (Panell) were born and raised in Virginia. Mr. Dolin served throughout the Spanish-American War as chief musician of the 7th Ohio Regiment and leader of its band. Afterward he worked as one of the Columbus Central Y.M.C.A. secretaries. Mr. and Mrs. Dolin lived at 1644 Cambridge Boulevard with their daughter, Hazel, who later married John W. Pontius, also a Secretary of the Columbus Y.M.C.A. Mr. Dolin's brother, James Allen Dolin, served as special secretary in the Army Y.M.C.A. at Camp Sherman, Chillicothe, Ohio. James later became a salesman with the Upper Arlington Company. Mr. and Mrs. Pontius were among the original members of the Upper Arlington Book Club. Mrs. Pontius was a member of the first Board of Education in Upper Arlington and served from 1918 to 1927. The Pontius' had one daughter, Miss Jean Pontius, age five in 1918.
