George Ridout published this handwritten account, "Narrative of the Capture by the Shawnee Indians of Thomas Ridout." It relates the experiences of his father Thomas Ridout, who was held captive by the Shawnee Indians. In 1787, Ridout, an Englishman, was traveling to the Ohio River region to collect debts owed to him. In 1788, he was captured by the Shawnees and, aided by sympathetic Indians, managed to escape. The volume is 110 pages and measures approximately 6" x 8" (15.24 x 20.32 cm)"
