Summary edit

Description
English: Thorpe Abbotts Airfield - Restored Control Tower. The sympathetically restored control tower, or 'watch office' as they were known in wartime, of the disused airfield at Thorpe Abbotts near to the village of Dickleburgh in South Norfolk. In World War II this airfield was home to the 100th Bomb Group of the United States Army Air Force. They were known as the 'Bloody Hundredth', due to the heavy casualties suffered on air raids over Europe. Currently the control tower houses part of the excellent, little museum on site, where some of the artefacts have been supplied by the families of the servicemen who served here in World War II. Entrance to the museum is free, and is well worth a visit. For further information see http://www.100bgmus.org.uk/html/intro.html
