Description

On May 24, 2002, MODIS captured this image of the sparsely vegetated, lake-dotted Tibetan Plateau (top). To the south, the snow-covered peaks of the Himalaya Ranges ring the Plateau.

  • To the far south (lower right), India's Brahmaputra River glints in the sun.
