English: Tidal Wave at Thorpe Park. Thorpe Park's Tidal Wave dates back to when the park was predominantly a water ride theme park. The entire area around, the ride, called Amity Cove, is themed on the tidal wave theme, with tide marks painted on walls. Originally features in the rides splash lake would imitate disaster sounds of an organ coming from a submerged church spire, a large oil drum that would occasionally emit flames. Most of these are no longer working, but even the nearby KFCs interior imitates disaster, with the suspended ceiling having been peeled away by the water. Yes, you get soaked either as a rider and also as an observer if you stand in the right place! |
