Description
English: This fateful afternoon in Ranthambore National Park, the three young cubs had to forgo their meal -- a deer they helped their mother (tigress "Krishna") chase -- to their arch-rivals: the crocodiles. The ill-fated deer jumped into the lake to escape the tigers and was immediately grabbed by the hungry crocodiles whose pointed scales are visible just over the water surface. The picture was taken after the adrenaline rush had subsided. The dissatisfied tigers settled down in remarkably similar postures seeming to accept their fate yet maintaining a defiant gaze overlooking the crocodiles. The crocodile-tiger rivalry in Ranthambore is stuff of legends.
