Description
In 1783, the Arts Academy of Copenhagen chose the theme of Saul consults the witch of Endor for that year's gold medal competition. Three painters were approved to take part, Johan Herman Cabot(t) (1756-1814), Nicolaus Wolff (1762-1813) and the German Jacob Fehrmann (1760-1837). Based on the painting styles of these three, the experts at Bruun Rasmussen opted for Nicolaus Wolff as the artist.
