| Description |
English: Tim Sebastion Woodman (1947-2007) was founder of the Secular Order of Druids (SOD). He is pictured here in around 1995 in the South Circle of Avebury, taking part in a ceremony of the Gorsedd of Bards of Caer Abiri, which had been founded there in September, 1993. Behind Tim are members of the British Druid Order, the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids and others. The Gorsedd at this time was very diverse in its membership, from Heathens and Wiccans to Christian ministers. Tim is standing in front of the concrete plinth that marks the place where a huge sarsen stone called the Obelisk once stood 18 feet high. He holds a staff topped by a brass sickle (visible behind his head), given to him by a member of the Ancient Order of Druids. Beyond the circle is the back of a chapel partially built from sarsen stones from the circles that were broken up for building material. The photo was taken by me (Philip Shallcrass) on an analogue camera. |
