Description View from Rams Head bar at Timberline Lodge of upper Mt. Hood in clouds. Snow at bottom of this third floor window is typical of winter snow base of 200 inches (almost 17 feet). Chairlift at left is top of Magic Mile. Lift at center is Palmer chairlift which disappears in cloud. Due to threats of damage to the towers by heavy snow, ice and high winds, the Palmer is usually closed—and protectively rigged—November through March or April.
