Description
English: On a website I found, translated and edited: The founder of Karakadı Mosque is Karakadı Mecdettin. Located in İpekçiler Mahallesi, the mosque is also known as Kocabıyık Mosque among the people. It is the only group of buildings among the Tire Mosques that preserves the original plan of the Kulliye. Its mosque, madrasah, library, inn and bath are still standing. The courtyard of the mosque is entered through a door with a marble jamb. There are madrasah rooms behind the porticoes surrounding the north, west and east of the courtyard. There is a fountain in the middle of the courtyard. The last congregation place is reached by steps from the courtyard. The interior is the only example with a hexagonal scheme among the Tire Mosques. The minaret is a unique example. The semi-circular bricks were stacked on top of each other and shaped to form grooves between them, giving them a different beauty. The Kufic tablets reveal a beautiful composition. In addition, since Karakadı Mecdettin was a master calligrapher, he had Kufic scripts written on the mosque and especially on the minaret.

Karakadı Library is located in a garden at a height of one meter from the ground, southeast of the mosque. It has two floors, the lower floor of this building is a tomb, the upper floor is the Library building. The mausoleum on the lower floor is accessed by a staircase in the east. The stone and brickwork of the library, which has a pentagonal plan, displays a picturesque beauty.
