Description
English: Yana is a village located in forests of the Kumta, Utttara Kannada district of Karnataka, India which is known for the unusual karst rock formations(yana caves).The two unique rock outcrops easily approachable by a small trek through 0.5 kilometres (0.31 mi) of thick forests from the nearest road head. The cave has a swayambu ("self manifested") Shiva Linga ("symbol of Shiva") over which spring water trickles from the roof of the tunnel overhead.The natural creation of the Shiva linga in the cave is attributed by scientists to the geological phenomenon formed by the stalactites and stalagmites in limestone formations.A natural waterfall located at a distance of about 8 km known as Vibhuti Falls.This cave has uneven rock formation giving an alien look. The scenic beauty is the most attractive and magical view. Gokarna having many beaches located 70kms away to it. A visit to this beauty is a must to have listed in the trip checklist of a traveller(explorer).
