Description

For Marion Baars painting has always been important. Early in her career she became well known for her portraits of children. She has received commissions to do the portraits of the Dutch Royal families children. She has also created a Christmas card for Unicef and she won a Talens Award.

Lately Marion has moved from portraits in crayon and oil to water colours. She has received much acclaim with this medium.

Her well balanced colours and strong composition, result in very harmonious works of art. She has a very distinct feeling for the effects that can be reached with water colours. Even considering the many layers of paint, her work remains transparent, which is a primary goal of Marion's. "The different shades of colour and the light effects have to be applied spontaneously. With water colours you can not make mistakes." A study trip to the south of France stimulated Marion to paint gardens and different styles of patios. She now places flowers in their natural surroundings and translates these scenes in her particular impressionistic style. In a recent work, she has returned to oil. It is obvious that she has been influenced by her favourite painters Monet, Manet and Renoir. She succesfully excibited her work in for instance The Singer Museum-Laren, the Barbizon Gallery-Amsterdam and the Groeneveld Castle-Baarn in Holland.

In addition, she has shown her paintings in New York, Corfu, Athens and Istanbul.
