English: Towards Micheldever tunnel Taken from the north end of the island platform at Micheldever station, with the tunnel, 700 metres away, in the distance. The area in between is a former chalk quarry. Approaching is a Cross Country Trains Voyager unit, on one of the hourly Manchester Piccadilly to Bournemouth journeys. It is doing about 80mph at this point and is quite unnerving to see it heading straight for you, even though you know that every other train has stayed on the rails as they bend around the platform. |
