Portland Canal at Fourteenth Street (L&I) Bridge:
Towboat "R.W. Naye" upbound.
Visible is the black smoke typically emitted by Alco (American Locomotive Company) diesels when they are throttled up. This is apparently due to turbo lag. The engine briefly runs rich until the turbo boost is high enough to reach the proper fuel mix.
