Description
English: Town Common, temporary fencing. Southern Electricity is currently refurbishing nearby power lines, and needs access across the common. As the common is environmentally very sensitive, because of populations of all native species of reptiles, http://www.herpconstrust.org.uk/reserves.htm this footpath has been temporarily fenced off, with posts holding plastic sheeting tucked into and under the soil, to prevent reptiles coming into contact with vehicles. All local shelters (sheets of corrugated iron in the foreground) were free of snakes or lizards at my visit, so perhaps this strategy is successful.
