We attended our first town hall meeting with Congressman Jared Huffman at the College of Marin in Kentfield on March 18, 2017. I was impressed by the size of the crowd (about five hundred people), the thoughtfulness of the questions -- and the honest, reasonable answers from our representative. He responded well to people’s concerns and gave us a good sense of his priorities for representing California’s North Coast in the 115th Congress. Many people participated in this conversation, from local officials to small business owners, senior citizens and high school students. The overall tone of this event was civil and peaceful. A few Trump supporters joined the town hall and their views were addressed respectfully, despite our political differences. I came out of this meeting feeling more hopeful, informed and energized to play my part in our democracy. Thank you, Congressman Huffman!
