Draft maps prepared by historian and surveyor William E. Peters and printed in his 1947 book, Athens County, Ohio, vol. 1: http://alice.library.ohio.edu:80/record=b1247147~S7 These original collaged maps or "paste-ups" consist of hand-drafted, pen-and-ink representations of roads, waterways, and railroads, alongside pasted labels. The labels correspond with features identified in Peters' Range Books scrapbook series. The 26-volume series of Range Books are organized geographically by range, township, and section, and were compiled primarily during the 1940s. They document unique features of Athens County and its surrounding areas, including cemeteries, Native American mounds, schools, and mining sites.
