English: Toyota Car Factory, Burnaston, Derby. Toyota is the seventh largest company in the world and the third largest manufacturer of automobiles, with production facilities in 26 nations around the world. In 1989, the decision to manufacture in Europe was based on a corporate policy of building vehicles where the customers are. At this time, Toyota was already selling 400,000 autos and trucks each year in Europe, which was the biggest market in the world, so the decision to invest significantly in a market where more than 16.7 million vehicles are sold each year was a logical one.
