Tiếng Việt: Tử Cấm thành (紫禁城) thuộc quần thể di tích cố đô Huế là trung tâm sinh hoạt hằng ngày của vua và hoàng gia triều Nguyễn. Tử Cấm thành có vị trí sau lưng điện Thái Hòa, được khởi xây năm Gia Long thứ 3 (1804) gọi là Cung thành (宮城) và các vua triều Nguyễn xây dựng thêm. Đến năm Minh Mạng thứ 3 (1822)[1], vua đổi tên là Tử Cấm thành, nghĩa là thành cấm màu tía. Theo nghĩa hán tự, chữ Tử có nghĩa là màu tím, lấy ý theo thần thoại: Tử Vi Viên ở trên trời là nơi ở của Trời, Vua là con Trời nên nơi ở của Vua cũng gọi là Tử, Cấm Thành là khu thành cấm dân thường ra vào[2]. Trong Tử Cấm thành có khoảng 50 công trình kiến trúc với qui mô lớn nhỏ khác nhau được phân chia làm nhiều khu vực, tổng số công trình đó biến động qua các thời kỳ lịch sử. |
