Maria Augusta Correia de Nóbrega (1929-2007), filha de Manuel Correia e Maria Baptista, nasceu na Camacha, onde frequentou a Escola Primária e depois, no Funchal, o Colégio de Santa Teresinha, em regime de internato. Professora do ensino oficial primário, em 1955, veio a exercer essa função na freguesia da Camacha durante 32 anos. Na década de sessenta inicia a sua atividade etnográfica, com a recolha de peças de artesanato e de uso quotidiano junto das famílias da sua terra, ação que desenvolveu nos anos seguintes, tal como veio a fundar o Grupo Infantil da Camacha, reorganizou o Grupo das Romarias Antigas e, numa visão mais abrangente, em 1978, ainda fundou o Grupo Juvenil da Camacha, isto de modo a possibilitar uma continuidade aos elementos que, devido ao crescimento, saíam do Grupo Infantil. Faleceu a 2 fev. 2007. |
