Summary edit

Description

The Kirnitzschtalbahn runs between Bad Schandau and the Lichtenhainer Wasserfall were still some extremely antiquated trams (since replaced) This AEG is a 1938 model which was acquired from the Loquitztalbahn between here and Dresden in 1977 when the latter closed down, and entered service in 1979.. It is now a museum car on the system, but in 1992 was in regular service. Now part of the Oberelbische Verkehrsgesellschaft Pirna-Sebnitz, this meter gauge tramway utilises 4 motor cars and 6 trailers, along with three historical motor cars and an historical trailer. I think that this one, no 8, is not used on the line. The active museum vehicles are nos 5 and 9 with trailer 12 although web information is conflicting. That source says that 8 was only used as a museum car between 1995 and 2000 and that 4 and 5 were returned to Kreizcha (Lockwitztalbahn) as Museum exhibits. Since 2007, 5 and trailer 12 were in Goerlitz.Regular trams are Gotha cars. [#//www.derhirsch.de/ausflugsziele-elbsandsteingebirge/kirnitzschtal-kirnitzschtalbahn.htm This 8 km long line] operates all year round, half hourly in summer and every 70 minutes in winter. The first electric trams ran here in 1898.
